When the focus of an experiment lies in grading and\nselecting treatment subgroups, t-designs would be preferred\nover the conventional ones, as they have the additional\nadvantage of t-tuple balance. t-designs can be advantageously\nused in identifying the best crop-livestock combination for a\nparticular location in Integrated Farming Systems that will\nhelp in generating maximum profit. But as the number of\ncomponents increases, the number of possible t-component\ncombinations will also increase. Most often, combinations\nderived from specific components are only practically feasible,\nfor example, in a specific locality, farmers may not be\ninterested in keeping a pig or goat and hence combinations\ninvolving these may not be of any use in that locality. In such\nsituations partially balanced t-designs with few selected\ncombinations appearing in a constant number of blocks (while\nothers not at all appearing) may be useful (Sayantani Karmakar,\nCini Varghese, Seema Jaggi & Mohd Harun\n(2021)). Further, every\nlocation may not have the resources to form equally sized\nhomogeneous blocks. Partially balanced t-designs with unequal\nblock sizes (Damaraju Raghavarao & Bei Zhou\n(1998).
